1) 영어 배우는 목적 (Purpose of learning English)

• opens doors. (문을 열어준다)
• For self-development (자기계발)
• Sightseeing to different places (travel) - Japan, China, the USA, Canada, Newzealand, Portugal, etc. Dementia (치매). Brain stroke (뇌졸증)  
• Want to speak English fluently. Not broken English. 
• Have been learning English for so long, but the results are not so optimal.
• To have an objective opinion by having accessing to critical information. 
• For fun. 

 

2) 영어를 배우면 좋은점? (Benefits for learning English)

• Have a different personality. 
• If you talk to a man in a language that he understands, that goes to his head. But if you talk in his language, that goes to his heart. 
• English is a global language. 
• Connect to a person on a deeper level. (깊은 교감)
• See the world in a different way
• Knowledge, facts
• Understand the world. 
• English proficiency test, have a leg-up in job searching, recognition from others. 
• English can be a life-saver in difficult situations.
• Access (접근) to a plethora (엄청 많은양의) of information. 
• Easy to go abroad. (해외에 쉽게 갈 수 있다)
• Courage to approach (to x) others. 
• Commonality.

3) 영어를 어떻게 공부하고 있는가? (How do you go about learning English?)

• read things that are related to my field. 
• Take part in a English study program
• Watch English tv programs. CNN, Youtube Video.
• Life-long learning center for seniors. Watch YouTube videos. 
• Attend a TOEIC lecture program
• Grammar book. American YouTube, foods, news, good foundation in grammar. 
• Do your best. 
• Read posts on Facebook. Are you an active user on Facebook? 

 

4 ) 영어 배울 때 어려운 점 (Difficulties in learning English)

• Idioms
• Pronunciation, intonation, She cannot hear anything. Listening is difficult. Prolonged-sounds (연음). 
• I find (something) difficult.
• Not a good enough immersion(몰입) environment 
• Writing is very difficult, especially prepositions and articles. 
• Vocabularies, no chance to speak, not to mention communicate on intelligent topics. 
• Only pick up easy English. 
• Same as other people. 
• Not easy to express opinions.

 

5) 영어를 잘 배울 수 있는 방법? (Suggestions for learning English)

• 초보: memorizing good sentences
• Writing and reading are the most important building blocks of learning English. 
• To be exposed to English a lot, and have endurance(끈기), confidence.
• Translate to Korean. 
• Know the American culture. Language is part of the culture. 
• 1. Just put down burden 
• 2. Try to explain to the best of my ability regardless of situations. 
• 3. Have confidence. Do not be overly stressed out. 
• Don’t give up, don’t quit studying, don’t be afraid. We are not in a ESL situation. Keep studying. Positive work ethic. 
• She wasn’t under pressure. Don’t bother too much. Go with the flow.
